Devotion
I used to devotedly clean the shala I worked for. I believed in it, I showed up for it, and it for me. I tread the shala like my own. It was home for my journey home. Now I'm lucky enough to have my own shala, where now I get to come home to myself daily, and also get to host a home for many to come home to. And guess what? I still clean it as devotedly as I did the other shala as a young, childless, responsability-free twenty something-year-old. Cleaning it deeply connects me to her, to my community, to the way I show up. I am one with all, we are all in this together. There is no job closer to yoga than that of taking good care of the things that cross your path, that are in your journey, supporting it, challenging it, enhancing it...all of it. As yogis we thrive to learn to show up with a certain quality of care towards ourselves, others and the environment. In the hopes to leave the space we come into a little better. Sukham.
