Deeply rooted in the Ashtanga Yoga lineage, our signature Newburgh Yoga Shala Vinyasa is a practice of moving meditation. Here, the breath serves as the thread, mindfully weaving each asana into a seamless, rhythmic flow.
We believe in a practice that is as disciplined as it is grounding. Each session is structured to provide a balanced and rigorous experience, moving through a gentle warm-up into the heat of Sun Salutations, standing and seated postures, backbends, and inversions. We close the journey with deep final relaxation ensuring you leave the Shala feeling both rejuvenated and firmly centered.
Saturday and Sunday classes include pranayama & guided meditation.
What to Expect:
A Complete Practice: Clearly delivered instruction covering the full spectrum of asana and mindfulness.
The Vibe: Steady, rhythmic, and intentional.
Requirement: To maintain the flow and safety of the collective, previous experience with asana practice is required.
ASHTANGA VINYASA
Drawing from the Primary and Intermediate series of Ashtanga Yoga, this class offers a structured yet accessible morning practice.

We conclude each session with basic Pranayama, leaving you steady, focused and rejuvenated.
Who this is for:
Intermediate: Not ideal for beginners.
The Time-Conscious: Perfect for those seeking an abbreviated, yet complete, practice.
The Dedicated: An ideal entry point for anyone looking to cultivate the discipline of a regular daily practice.

YIN
This class is the perfect balance to the vigorous practices offering a deep, restorative rest. Deepen your connection to stillness with a traditional Yin Yoga practice. In the quiet container of our Shala, Megan guides you through long-held, floor-based postures designed to bypass the muscles and target the deeper connective tissues—the fascia, ligaments, and joints. By staying in shapes for three to five minutes, we cultivate a profound sense of space, physical release, and equanimity. This practice draws on the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine to stimulate meridian pathways, unblocking stagnant energy and soothing the nervous system.
Whether you are seeking a cooling recovery or a deeper introspective journey, this class provides the tools to presence yourself and find inner harmony.
RESTORATIVE YOGA
We begin the first half of class with a Vinyasa sequence, raising Yang energy to build heat, soften the mind, and release restless tension. The second half transitions into Restorative postures—held for 3–5 minutes—allowing you to settle into Yin energy. This slow, intentional phase is designed to regulate the nervous system and create space within the body.
What to Expect:
Vinyasa: Active movement to warm the body and expend energy.
Restorative: Seated and supine postures to access depth and volume.
Nervous System Reset: A practice that prepares the mind and body for deep rest or meditation.
Level: All levels welcome. The ideal complement to any active yoga practice or athletic training.

Vajra Yoga is a unique synthesis of Hatha Yoga and Tibetan Buddhist wisdom, designed to align the physical body with the subtle energies of the mind. Rooted in the "inner sciences" of India and Tibet, this practice emphasizes the vajra—the diamond or thunderbolt—representing an indestructible clarity that cuts through mental and physical tension.
This class features movement and breathing practices derived from Indo-Tibetan traditions, using specific methods for subtle body alignment as a foundation for a vinyasa-based practice. By integrating mindfulness, visualization, and intentional breath, Vajra Yoga helps practitioners reconnect with their innate healing potential and cultivate a "clear light" awareness.
What to Expect:
Integrated Practice: A blend of traditional asana with meditative and philosophical disciplines.
Subtle Alignment: Techniques focused on the nervous system and the energetic architecture of the body.
Inner Clarity: A concluding meditation to ground the session and foster a deep sense of resilience and joy.
Requirement: This practice is open to all levels of students interested in exploring the intersection of yoga and meditation.
