To ensure your journey is as restful and revitalizing as the retreat itself, we have carefully structured our group arrival to align with your body’s needs.
Ease into Lima: We recommend flying into Lima (Sea Level) a day or two early to join us. This is the perfect time to shake off jet lag, enjoy Lima’s world-class culinary scene, and begin integrating with our retreat community before we head into the mountains.
A Gentle Arrival at Samadhi: We will travel together from Cusco directly to Samadhi Sacred Valley. Sitting at approximately 2,870 meters (9,416 ft), the Sacred Valley is notably lower than Cusco. Starting here allows your body to acclimate gradually to the "thin air" while surrounded by the tranquil energy of the valley, minimizing the risk of altitude sickness.
The Sacred Peak: After our deep immersion in practice and ceremony, we will finally ascend to Cusco (3,399 meters / 11,152 ft). By visiting Cusco after the retreat, you’ll arrive already adjusted to the altitude, allowing you to explore the Incan capital’s vibrant markets and historic plazas with energy and ease.
-
Lima: Sea Level (No acclimation needed)
Sacred Valley (Samadhi): ~2,870 m / 9,416 ft (Lower, gentler entry)
Machu Picchu: 2,430 m / 7,972 ft (Manageable for most)
Cusco: 3,399 m / 11,152 ft (Highest point; best visited last)
Stay Hydrated & Breathe: Throughout our journey, we will support one another with mindful breathing, plenty of water, and traditional Andean remedies like muña or coca tea to stay balanced and vibrant.

The "Andean secret" is dressing in layers to adapt to intense sun during the day and sharp cold at night.
Base Layers: Moisture-wicking T-shirts and thermal long-sleeved tops (merino wool is highly recommended for insulation and odor resistance).
Mid-Layers: A warm fleece or a lightweight down jacket for early mornings and late evenings.
Outer Layer: A lightweight, waterproof rain jacket or a sturdy reusable poncho, as unexpected showers become more frequent toward the end of September.
Bottoms: Lightweight, breathable hiking pants or convertible "zip-off" pants. Avoid heavy denim, which dries slowly and traps heat.
Footwear: Sturdy, broken-in hiking boots with non-slip soles are essential for uneven stone paths at Machu Picchu. Bring moisture-wicking wool socks to prevent blisters.
The high altitude significantly increases UV radiation, even on cool days.
Sun Protection: SPF 50+ sunscreen, UV-protection sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed sun hat.
Insect Repellent: Small but persistent mosquitoes are common at Machu Picchu; use a repellent with DEET or picaridin.
Accessories: A warm beanie and light gloves for chilly mornings or nights during ceremonies
