Lovingkindness is a meditation that cultivates our natural capacity for an open and loving heart. It is traditionally offered along with meditations that enrich compassion, joy in the happiness of others, and equanimity. Together these 4 qualities are known as the Brahma Viharas, or boundless states.
These practices lead to the development of concentration, fearlessness, and genuine happiness. Sharon Salzberg will introduce these teachings and support us in our own experience and cultivation of these qualities through direct instruction and guided meditation using classical techniques in a modern idiom. There will also be many opportunities for questions. This workshop is suitable for both new and experienced meditators.

This four-week meditation series is a great way to touch in on what mindfulness really means, and practice meditation in a group setting. The Tibetan word for meditation is gom, or "to become familiar with." What we are becoming familiar with is ourselves, our thought process, our hearts. The benefits of practicing mindfulness meditation include stability, strength, clarity, and less reactivity in daily life. This series is an introduction to the practice. No experience necessary, all are welcome.

As yoga instructors and dedicated students, we often focus our anatomy studies on the muscular system. Here is an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how our internal organs influence our practice, and how the nervous system impacts every moment on and off the mat.
In this workshop, we will cover:
Structures & Functions of the Central Nervous System + Peripheral Nervous System
Signs of nervous system regulation and dysregulation
Effects of asana, pranayama, chanting and meditation on the brain, spinal column, organs, and fascia
Masha will encourage discussion and curiosity about some common language we use as yoga practitioners and teachers. Together we will explore alternate language and cues that may be more accurate and meaningful. We will end the workshop with some practices to upregulate and downregulate the nervous system, and directly experience the benefit of moving more easefully between the two.

‘Trauma informed yoga’ is a popular phrase, but what exactly does it mean for us as teachers and students? What types of training and support can we put in place for ourselves to become more informed? As individuals, how can we mitigate systemic cultures of harm?
In this workshop, Masha will offer her experience as a teacher and practitioner to define ‘trauma informed care’, and the ethics of that phrase. Our time together will include:
Creating a ‘brave space’ vs a ‘safe space’
Boundaries, Consent, and Scope of Practice in Yoga
How to cultivate more inclusive spaces and how to repair unintentional harm
This workshop is for anyone that truly wants to create the safest spaces for the most people. Please come with the willingness to explore cultures of harm and the intention to find strength in vulnerability. We will create a brave space together.
